Mohave County political candidates answer community questions at Havasu election forum
LAKE HAVASU CITY — Lake Havasu City residents had the opportunity to hear from those running for local elected positions Wednesday evening. The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce, Today’s News-Herald and KNTR radio station sponsored an election forum. The event was held at the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center with Brandon Bowers, editor of Today’s News-Herald, and Paul Lavoie with KNTR radio station.
Public invited to observe ballot tabulation equipment testing
KINGMAN – A test of the ballot tabulation equipment and programs for the July 30 Mohave County Primary Election will take place on June 27 at 9 a.m. by the Mohave County Elections Department. A separate test will also be conducted by the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office at 2:35 p.m. on that date. The location of the tests is the Mohave County Election Department, 700 W. Beale, Kingman. It will be open to the press and the public.

Arizona Electric Power Cooperative/Mohave Electric Cooperative postpone meeting to discuss proposed Mohave Valley facility
MOHAVE COUNTY – Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO/MEC) has requested that their applications for an amendment to the Mohave County General Plan be postponed. The issue involves the company’s application going from a Suburban Residential Area land use designation to an Urban Development Area land use designation and a Rezone from an A-R (Agricultural Residential) zone to an M-X (Heavy Manufacturing) zone for a portion of Assessor’s Parcel No. 225-09-052. It would allow for a natural gas-powered electric generation facility in the Mohave Valley vicinity. The postponement moves the item from the July 1, 2024, Board of Supervisors meeting to the August 19, 2024 Board of Supervisors meeting.

Early voting opens Wednesday, June 3 for Mohave County
MOHAVE COUNTY – Thousands of Mohave County residents can be expected to take advantage of the early voting window that opens next Wednesday, July 3. The majority of the county’s registered voters have been casting ballots early for years, as was evident in the local 2020 primary election.
New MCSO substation open in Mohave Valley
MOHAVE VALLEY – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has announced that their new substation in the Fort Mohave / Mohave Valley area is fully operational. All official business shall now be handled out of the new location at 6870 S. Highway 95. A Grand Opening Ceremony will be announced at a later date for the public to tour the new substation.
Mohave County approves preparations for primary elections
KINGMAN — The 2024 primary elections is 40 days away, and Mohave County is laying the groundwork for a smooth process this election year. On Monday, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors voted in favor of supporting elections for special voting districts throughout the region, as well as support for municipal elections in Kingman, Bullhead City, Colorado City and Lake Havasu City.
