As a current candidate for Mohave County Board of Supervisors, District 3, I’d like to know why our local Democratic candidates for county Board of Supervisors were excluded from participating in the Election Forum at Lake Havasu High Wednesday night that was sponsored by Today’s News-Herald, Radio Central, and the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce.
Debate is Scheduled July 9th
The district 2 Mohave County supervisor debate is scheduled for July 9th at the Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse with or without all candidates. Confirmed by Michelle Bemelman, Executive Administrative Assistant to the Colorado River Union High School District #2, the event will take place with or without all candidates. “The debate is still going ahead Tuesday, July 9th at 6 pm as planned. As of now, I have confirmation that Rich Lettman and William “Scotty” McClure will both be attending.” Michelle Bemelman said in a response to The Buzz email inquiry. Grace Hecht is the only candidate yet to respond to the request. If she fails to attend this will be the second and final attempt for public debate that Candidate Hecht has declined to participate in calling to question her ability to truly represent the people of Mohave County and Bullhead City. We received no response from Grace Hecht from the previous debate date regarding her position on attending the debate. (Email from June 21st, 2024 with no response)
ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE- DOLAN SPRINGS
Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are investigating an attempted homicide that occurred in Dolan Springs on Wednesday (7/3). At approximately 12:05 PM, dispatch received a call from a female subject stating she shot her husband at a residence in the 17000 block of Needle Dr. Deputies and Detectives responded to the scene and located the victim, who had a gunshot wound to his back. The victim was flown to a Las Vegas hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Suspects chased arrested in drug deals
BULLHEAD CITY – Two drug dealing suspects reportedly led officers during separate police pursuits before one jumped into the Colorado River with a bag full of illegal drugs. The June 27 incident began at 7:00 a.m. when the wanted couple, Thomas Morgan, 35, and Ashley Nail, 33, first eluded Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies during an attempted traffic stop in Mohave Valley.
