    Music in the Park program continues this week

    MOLALLA: Tuesday evening air will be filled with the sound of music coming from Molalla’s Fox Park in 2024.

    The Molalla Public Library returns with another edition of its Music in the Park program for the coming summer. The action runs every Tuesday through July 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    The Friends of the Molalla Library will be selling beverages and Parks CPC will sell snacks.

    This summer’s shows will include:

    June 25: Lavinia Ross.

    July 9: Timothy James.

    July 16: Trent Beaver.

    July 23: Mark Seymour & Friends.

    July 30: Portland Opera’s Opera ala Cart.

    Molalla police facility offering outreach event for subcontractors

    MOLALLA: P&C Construction will hold an outreach event for subcontractors on Wednesday, June 26, at 1 p.m. at the Civic Center to learn more about what the new police facility will entail.

    Subs are invited to come and learn more about the project and see what scopes of work are bidding in the latest bid package.

    Build a cardboard city and enjoy the adventure

    MOLALLA: The Molalla Public Library will create a ‘cardboard city’ on Thursday, June 27, beginning at 11 a.m. The event is for youth that enjoy building things and will feature the creation of a cardboard city.

    World Beat Festival ready for 27th edition in Salem

    SALEM: Ukraine will be the featured country this year when the Salem Multicultural Institute hosts the 27th annual World Beat Festival Friday through Sunday, June 28-30 at Riverfront Park.

    The event showcases international music, dance, song, theater, food, crafts, customs, rituals, and folklore.

    Backyard garden tour ready to offer some sights

    CANBY: The Friends Backyard Garden and Patio Tour will be Saturday, June 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Tickets are available at the Canby Public Library and the Cutsforth’s Market service desk. Tickets are $15 per person.

    Molalla ‘Friends’ slate book sale at end of June

    MOLALLA: The Friends of the Molalla Public Library will hold a book sale on Friday and Saturday, June 28-29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ivor Davies Hall, 620 S. Molalla Ave.

    Fourth Friday event will kick off at 5 p.m. in Molalla

    MOLALLA: Molalla businesses will come together once again for Fourth Friday on June 28. Small businesses participating in the event will display an orange flag outside their business.

    The stores will stay open until 8 p.m. and offer specials, some pop-up businesses on hand, and rodeo scavenger hunt during the event. It’s simple: Find a horseshoe at a business, take a selfie with it, post it, and find a new hiding place for it.

    Fourth Friday begins at 5 p.m. at participating businesses.

    It’s car show time for Hotrod Dreamworks in Canby

    CANBY: Hot Rod Dreamworks will hold its 15th Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. All proceeds go to Relay for Life fundraising. There is no pre-registration required, just a $5 registration fee at the event.

    Food will be available for purchase and there will be raffle prizes.

    Bingo! It’s time for annual firefighter fundraiser

    AURORA: The Aurora Rural Firefighters, District 63, will hold their 49th Annual Bingo Night on Saturday, June 29, at the Donald Fire Station.

    Proceeds to go the Wayne Yoder Memorial Scholarship Fund and community events. Dinner will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., bingo games will start at 6:30 p.m.

    Menu includes hamburger, hot dog, chips, and drink for $7. Bingo games cost $1 per game, and an additional $1 for each extra card. Door prizes will also be available.

    Chamber golf tourney a chance for fun and networking

    CANBY: The Canby Aera Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual golf tournament on Monday, July 1, at Willamette Valley Country Club.

    Cost is $650 for a team of four or $170 as a single. Tournament day registration begins at 10 a.m., lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m.

    Cane berries get their day at ‘Depot Day’ celebration

    BROOKS: Cane berries will be celebrated at “Depot Day,” on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brooks Depot Museum in Powerland Heritage Park, 3995 Brooklake Road, just off the Brooks I-5 exit.

    The event is free and will feature old-fashioned and berry themed games, such as pie pan golf, stamping art, pie-eating contests, berry-pie contests and crafts. Master Gardeners will be on hand.

    Attendees are urged to bring a picnic lunch, while berry cobbler desserts will be available to purchase. The museum has a large display all about cane berries, including raspberries, logan berries and Marion Berries, sponsored by the Oregon Raspberry and Blackberry Commission.

    Colony Museum slates ‘biergarten’ and presentation event

    AURORA: The Aurora Colony Museum will host a mini biergarten on Thursday, July 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for an evening presentation with speaker David G. Lewis. He will discuss his new book, “Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley,” in the courtyard of the museum.

    Aurora slates living history activities during open day

    AURORA: The Aurora Colony Village will open on July 13 for a living history day. Crafts and history will be alive and well for visitors to see, with blacksmiths, spinners, and weavers coming to live and work in the historic buildings at the Aurora Colony Museum.

    Canby ready to serve up ‘Slice’ of musical fun

    CANBY: This year’s Slice of Summer music series will feature four Sunday shows at the gazebo in Canby’s Wait Park. The shows will begin at 6 p.m. and feature a diverse selection of music.

    Performing this year will be:

    July 14: Willamette Valley Big Band.

    July 28: Elia Howard & the Greater Good.

    Aug. 11: Bridgetown Get Down.

    Aug. 25: The Band of Jesse James.

    Food and beverage vendors will be on hand. Attendees should bring their own chairs or a blanket as there is no seating at the park.

    Tribute band festival adds third day of music

    CANBY: Harefest, “The Mother of All Tribute Festivals” will return with an extra day added. This year’s event will run Thursday-Saturday, July 18-20 at the fairgrounds in Canby.

    The event features camping spots available and three days, three stages, and 27 bands assuming the style and musical tributes to classic bands such as Journey, CCR, Alabama, STYX, Scorpions, and more.

    Molalla Parks plans fundraising garage sale for play structureMOLALLA: The Molalla Parks CPC garage sale will be held July 25-27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 321 Chinook St. The group is now accepting gently used donations. To do so, contact Jody Newland at jnweland@cityofmolalla.com.

    Canby Fire slates its first-ever MDA golf tourneyCANBY: The inaugural Canby Fire MDA Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, July 31, at Frontier Golf Course in Canby.

    Entry to the nine-hole scramble is $100 per person or $350 for a team of four. Fees include greens fees, event t-shirt and catered barbecue lunch. Deadline to enter is June 30. Pick up an entry form or information on sponsorships at the chamber office.

    Colony Days will be serving up two days of funAURORA: Aurora Colony Days returns Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10. Aug. 9 will feature a biergarten from 4:30 to 10 p.m. with the music of Mark Seymour and Friends, beginning at 6 p.m.

    On Saturday, a pancake breakfast kicks things off at the American Legion Hall, followed by a fun run, the Market in the Park and the Outdoor Antiques Market downtown.

    WOODBURN: The Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at OGA Golf Course. Registration starts at 7 a.m., with a shot gun start at 8:30 a.m.

    Canby High class of 1974 organizing a 50th class reunion

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 1974 is in the process of planning its 50th class reunion on Sunday, Sept. 8, at Merrywood Farms in Carus.

    CANBY: The 30th Annual Cutsforth’s Cruise In will once again welcome hundreds of classic cars to the downtown streets of Canby on Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    City of Woodburn to keep dog park closed for now

    WOODBURN: The City of Woodburn has announced the closure of Centennial Park Dog Park will remain in effect until July 15. The closure is in place for construction activity, including a new shelter.

    Molalla Farmers Market rolling along every Thursday

    MOLALLA: The Molalla Farmers Market will be held every Thursday through the end of September from 3 to 7 p.m. at 180 Industrial Way in Molalla.

    The weekly market will feature local produce, crafts, food, and more.

    Canby’s Farmers Market is up and running Saturdays through October

    CANBY: The Canby Farmers Market will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Canby on N. Holly Street between NW 2nd and 4th avenues.

    The market will run into October and produce from local farmers, hand crafters, food artisans and plenty of other vendors.

    WOODBURN: The Northwest Senior and Disability Services is accepting volunteers for its Woodburn-based Meals on Wheels program.

    Volunteers serve nutritious food to the community’s older citizens. It’s an opportunity to help the community, connect with others and be a friendly, familiar face.

    D&D campaign looking for players at Canby Library

    CANBY: A Dungeons and Dragons campaign for teens ages 13-18 will be the first and third Saturday at the Canby Public Library.

    Portland Timbers supporters group meets in Canby

    CANBY: The local Portland Timbers support group, Timbers Army Clackamas County Frogmen, will meet at the F.O.B. Taproom in Canby cheer on the MLS team for every game this season, except those on Wednesday nights.

    The game will be shown on a large pull-down screen and the fun will include snacks and patches and stickers for sale. Beverages are available on site, and food can be purchased outside of the taproom and brought in during the game. All area Timbers fans are encouraged to stop by.
