Canby’s Farmers Market is up and running Saturdays
CANBY: The Canby Farmers Market will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Canby on N. Holly Street between NW 2nd and 4th avenues.
The market will run into October and produce from local farmers, hand crafters, food artisans and plenty of other vendors.

Slicker Country Band ready to fill Aurora with music
AURORA: Aurora’s annual free community concerts finish its run on Saturday, Aug. 10, as part of Aurora Colony Days.
The shows are held at the Aurora City Park amphitheater from 7 to 9 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public rain or shine. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand.
Up on Aug. 10 will be Slicker Country Band.
Community barbecue, meeting rescheduled for Aug. 6
WOODBURN: The City of Woodburn has set a new date for the community barbecue/city council meeting — 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Library Square, 280 Garfield St.
The originally scheduled event was postponed due to high-temperature weather conditions. The barbecue and meeting will be followed by the regularly scheduled Music in the Park series, featuring Castletown.
Colony Days brings the fun to welcoming community
AURORA: Aurora Colony Days returns Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10. Aug. 9 will feature a biergarten from 4:30 to 10 p.m. with the music of Mark Seymour and Friends, beginning at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, a pancake breakfast kicks things off at the American Legion Hall, followed by a fun run, the Market in the Park and the Outdoor Antiques Market downtown.

Canby’s next ‘Slice’ of musical fun right around corner
CANBY: This year’s Slice of Summer music series continues its Sunday shows at the gazebo in Canby’s Wait Park. The shows will begin at 6 p.m. and feature a diverse selection of music.

Woodburn High cheerleaders set fundraising car wash
WOODBURN: Woodburn High School’s cheerleading squad will hold a fundraising car wash from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Woodburn Les Schwab, 1140 N Pacific Hwy.
WHS cheerleading athletes cheer for high school teams, such as football and basketball, and competes at large. The squad is raising funds for cheer apparel, equipment, training and competitive team events.

LEGO legend set to offer thoughts at library event

Fiesta Mexicana ready for 60th anniversary outing
WOODBURN: It’s the 60th anniversary of the Woodburn Fiesta Mexicana, from noon to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, at Legion Park, 1385 Park Ave., Woodburn.
The event features more than 60 vendors, a soccer tournament, a parade, Lucha Libre, Loteria, live music and a tremendous amount of authentic cuisine options.
It’s free all-day Friday, free Saturday and Sunday until 5 p.m., and after 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, it’s a $5 entry fee for ages 10 and older. Saturday features a morning parade from downtown through Legion Park.

WOODBURN: The Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at OGA Golf Course. Registration starts at 7 a.m., with a shot gun start at 8:30 a.m.

Portland Timbers supporters group meets in Canby
CANBY: The local Portland Timbers support group, Timbers Army Clackamas County Frogmen, will meet at the F.O.B. Taproom in Canby cheer on the MLS team for every game this season, except those on Wednesday nights.
The game will be shown on a large pull-down screen and the fun will include snacks and patches and stickers for sale. Beverages are available on site, and food can be purchased outside of the taproom and brought in during the game. All area Timbers fans are encouraged to stop by. F.O.B. Woodburn Meals on Wheels program seeks volunteers
WOODBURN: The Northwest Senior and Disability Services is accepting volunteers for its Woodburn-based Meals on Wheels program.
Volunteers serve nutritious food to the community’s older citizens. It’s an opportunity to help the community, connect with others and be a friendly, familiar face.
