Cardigan time: Coolest temps in weeks expected around Portland metro area for Tuesday, Aug. 13

Cooler temperatures return to the Pacific Northwest as afternoon highs fall to the low 70s for Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Portland area temperatures have been hot this summer, but there have been a few cool days. The last low-70s day felt in the Rose City was July 29. That’s when afternoon temperatures only made it to 71. Another round of below-average temperatures is expected Tuesday and will remain for much of the week around the city.

A southwesterly wind will help keep wildfire smoke clear from the Oregon coast to the Cascades.
