Celebrate! Molalla rolls out the fun during annual event

Don Mitchell is certainly a one-man band. And that band delivered everything from Waylon Jennings to AC/DC as the opening stage act at this year’s Celebrate Molalla on Saturday, Aug. 24.

And though the grass in front of the stage was a bit wet, and the clouds in the sky made you wonder what the day was going to be like, Mitchell’s sweet sounds set a nice tone.

“Oh, I really like him,” said Betty Thorson as she tapped her toes to the music. “They did some rearranging to things this year and I think that’s probably a good thing moving forward. It’s just a nice morning to come down here, enjoy some music, food and check out the vendors. They have a lot of vendors.”

Mitchell was only the first musical salvo of what turned out to be a fun day with the Blue Collar Brothers and then Cool Change PDX hitting the stage throughout the day.

Add to that food carts, a cornhole tournament, free kids’ crafts, and general vibe of enjoying a fairly moderately warm day, and Celebrate Molalla delivered another fun afternoon at Clark Park.
