These Baby Names Sound Like Future Televangelists

Families of faith may hope that their child grows up to turn their faith into a career — becoming either a preacher or televangelist. Other families may hope their child does just the opposite. Regardless of which side of the fence you fall on, the name you choose for your newborn may sound like your little one is headed for a career in preaching the gospel on the airwaves. Here are 10 baby names that give off hardcore televangelist vibes and you may not even know it. Perhaps being aware will help you decide if it’s the right choice for your little one — or not.

Kenneth

Kenneth Copeland (pictured) is arguably the most popular televangelist of all time, so it stands to reason that naming your child Kenneth or any variation thereof — Kenny, Ken, etc. — would have that TV preacher vibe.

Tammy

Inspired by the late Tammy Faye Bakker, not only does Tammy feel dated, but it also conjures images of a mascara-stained face.

Jim

Jim is another potential televangelist baby name. It’s inspired, obviously, by the wildly popular Jim Bakker, pictured here with his wife Tammy Faye. Jimmy is a variation that also exudes televangelism — remember Jimmy Swaggart?

Billy

While there are several variations of William — Bill, Billy, Willy, Will, Liam — Billy is the stand-out as a potential future televangelist given the late Billy Graham, pictured.

Jerry

Jerry could go several ways. Perhaps you envision a future comedian (Jerry Seinfeld), or talk show host (Jerry Springer), or even a Hollywood A-lister (Jerry Bruckheimer). But Jerry also gives televangelist vibes thanks to the late Jerry Falwell, who spread the gospel on the “The Old-Time Gospel Hour.”

Benny

Benjamin is a popular boy’s name, and it comes with several options, including Ben and Benny. For a truly televangelist-sounding name, Benny is the way to go. Just ask Benny Hinn (pictured).

Joel

While Joel seems like a fairly non-descript name, fans of Joel Osteen know that it has major potential for future televangelists.

Joyce

Granted Joyce gives a strong ’80s vibe, it also leans slightly televangelist given Joye Meyer Ministries.

Rick

Rick is a popular variation on Richard. Interestingly, of the variations of Richard, some skew televangelist and others not so much. Richard, Dick, Dickie … not so televangelistic. Rick (a la Rick Warren, pictured)? Go ahead and book the studio audience. That kid’s got a bright future on religious TV.

Pat

There have been plenty of famous Pats in American history and in various industries. Pat Summit, Pat Benatar, Pat Sajak … and Pat Robertson, the found of the Christian Broadcasting Network and the mother of all televangelism shows, “The 700 Club.”
