MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Presidential hopeful Nikki Haley will make a stop in Moncks Corner on Friday just one day before the first-in-the south Republican presidential primary.
The former South Carolina governor’s upcoming stop in Berkeley County is part of her “Beast of the Southeast” bus tour.
On Feb. 23, she will meet with voters at 2 p.m. at the Moncks Corner Train Depot, which is at 100 Behrman St.
The event is free to the public; however, anyone interested in attending must register online at this link to reserve a spot. Doors open to the event at 1 p.m.
A new Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey of South Carolina voters finds former President Donald Trump with a 23-point lead over former Gov. Nikki Haley 58 percent to 35 percent. Seven percent are undecided. With undecided voters’ support accounted for, Trump’s support increases to 61 percent, and Haley’s to 39 percent.
Trump is currently leading with 63 delegates compared to Haley’s 17. To win the Republican presidential nomination, 1,215 delegates are needed. With many more Republican presidential primaries nationwide still yet to take place, Haley said she has no plans to drop out of the race.
“I’m running for president because we have a country to save. Since the start of my campaign, I’ve been focused on the real issues our country faces. The ones that determine whether America will thrive… or spiral out,” she said Tuesday in Greenville.
“South Carolina will vote on Saturday. But on Sunday , I’ll still be running for president. I’m not going anywhere ,” she continued.
After South Carolina, Trump and Haley move on to Michigan where its GOP presidential primary will take place Feb. 27.
