Mud Hens starter Hurter throws seven strong innings in 7-4 win against Louisville
The Toledo Mud Hens limited the Louisville Bats to four hits in a 7-4 win on Friday at Fifth Third Field. Toledo (46-53) used four pitchers in Thursday’s 4-0 win, a combined three-hitter, and on Friday needed only three pitchers to shut down Louisville (49-49), which scored all its runs in the ninth inning. Starter Brant Hurter (2-4) yielded the first hit, a sixth-inning double by Erik Gonzalez, in seven innings with six strikeouts to no walks. Hurter totaled 77 pitches, with 58 thrown for strikes. Garrett Hill worked 1⅓ innings of relief, giving up the four runs — three on Levi Jordan’s bases-clearing double — on two hits and three walks. Austin Schulfer gave up an RBI single to Tony Kemp, but retired the final two batters via strikeout.
I-TEAM: New Toledo Police chase policy
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A new set of rules is now governing Toledo Police chases. The department updated its policy after a string of chases killed and injured multiple people. One of the big changes is that when a supervisor decides to end a chase, all the vehicles involved are now required to turn off their lights and sirens. They are also asked to pull over as soon as possible to let the person they are chasing know the pursuit is off. The goal is to then have the person they are chasing slow down so they do not get hurt.
