UNC's 'Experimental Suites' Might Be the Most Embarrassing Idea of the Year
If I was looking to buy North Carolina season tickets and someone pitched me on one of these "experimental suites", I think I'd cuss them out. What is the idea here, exactly? So you're buying a "suite" of wooden bar chairs far less comfortable than the permanent seats right next to them — credit to UNC for having padded seats, that's a win — in a bad location where nobody was buying tickets, but you get a little bit of shade from a glorified beach tent? At least they also look terrible and embarrassing.
Coaching mentor returns to sidelines
It’s been said that a good coach can serve as a mentor, guiding athletes through challenges and triumphs and instilling values that transcend the realm of sports. You can count Northampton County’s John Brown into that category – twice. After leaving the bench and hanging up his whistle and clipboard following 18 years of service at Lasker’s Northeast Academy, Brown returned just a few years ago – first as a...

Review: Raleigh Little Theatre's SOMETHING ROTTEN!
Set in the year 1595, Something Rotten! follows Nick & Nigel Bottom, two playwriting brothers who struggle to find success in the theatre as they compete with the wild popularity of their contemporary, William Shakespeare. As a way of competing, they both decided to create the world's first musical. When I reviewed the national tour of this show during its stop at DPAC in April of 2017, I said “This is a musical that I think is going to be very popular with schools, community, and regional theatres as soon as it becomes available for licensing.”
