Nebraska Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 1AM: High Winds, Large Hail, and Tornadoes Possible
Lincoln, NE – East-central and southeastern Nebraska are under a severe thunderstorm watch from 5:30 p.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The region is at risk for scattered large hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter and damaging wind gusts of up to 70 mph. A tornado or two is also possible, particularly in areas close to an outflow boundary. The NWS warns that storms are expected to develop soon and intensify as they move eastward across the state, increasing the potential for severe weather.

DOON—A 28-year-old Doon man was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, on a charge of domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury. The arrest of Joshua Jeffrey Van Schepen stemmed from a 911 call regarding a domestic assault in progress at a residence in Doon, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

PLATTE COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - Multiple animals were killed, and a barn is considered a total loss after a fire at a hog farm owned by Gov. Jim Pillen. (Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of southwest Iowa until 1:00 a.m. on Friday. Thunderstorms are expected to develop this evening and then move across Iowa overnight.
