Atlantic Police Arrest Man for Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury
(Atlantic) A man has been charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury following an incident in Atlantic Monday evening. The Atlantic Police Department says at approximately 5:57PM, the Cass County Communications center received a report of an assault at 1600 Bryn Mawr Blvd in Atlantic. This initial report stated that a male subject had been stabbed at the residence. Upon arrival, officers with the Atlantic Police Department determined that the victim had not been stabbed, but had been assaulted and struck using items in the home causing lacerations and bleeding. As a result of this investigation, Michael Brownsberger has been charged with Willful injury Causing Serious Injury (Class C Felony.) Michael was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Cass County Jail, where he was booked and held.

Glenwood interim superintendent arrives at 'destination district'
(Glenwood) -- New leadership is on board in the Glenwood School District. Nicole Kooiker took the helm as the district's interim superintendent earlier this month. Kooiker comes to Glenwood from the Cedar Rapids School District, where she served as deputy superintendent as well as an administrator at Roosevelt Middle School from 2020 until June 30th. Prior to her time in Cedar Rapids, she was superintendent and chief executive officer in the Ottumwa School District from 2016-2020, and before that, superintendent in the West Marshall district from 2013-16. She also served as a teacher and principal prior to her superintendent roles. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Monday morning, Kooiker says she considered Glenwood "a destination district."

Nebraska’s 2023-24 general tax receipts come in $10.6 million below latest projections
LINCOLN — Nebraska’s tax receipts for the 2023-24 fiscal year released Monday came in 0.1% below the most recent projections. In the past year, the State of Nebraska collected $7.156 billion for the state’s general pocketbook, about $10.6 million below a Feb. 29 forecasting projection. The reported general fund tax receipts include net sales and use taxes, individual income taxes, corporate income taxes and miscellaneous taxes.
