Slippery Rock and Moniteau Increase Taxes
A couple more Butler County School Districts have given final approval to budgets for next school year that include tax increases. At a meeting of the Slippery Rock Area School Board, members finalized a balanced budget of just over $38 million by a vote of 8-0 with one absence. In order for expected revenue to meet expenditures, Slippery Rock residents will see a tax increase of 3.75 mils. The new total tax milage rate is 108.5. The additional money is needed to cover increased health care and special education costs.

A California man was injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Moniteau County. At 6:43 p.m., Paul C. Mosley, 47, of California, was driving north on Missouri 87 when his 2011 Kawasaki Ninja hit loose gravel, according to a Missouri.

Travis R. Beavers, 40, of Leeton, sustained moderate injuries at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, June 9 in a Henry County accident. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Beavers was driving a 2021 Toyota north on Northeast 231st Road when he swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. He traveled off the road, down an embankment and struck a ditch.
