Weather Forecast for June 21 – 23, 2024 – LISTEN NOW TO THE REPORT CLICK HERE
Owens Valley / Death Valley / Mammoth / Mono County. Today is the first “Full” day of Summer and the last day of sub 100° temps in the Owens Valley. Saturday / Sunday brings on the heat, with 102° in Bishop. All due to a strong ridge axis located to our South, with a SW flow persisting. Generally your temps then should vary little most of next week, with the low 100s in the Owens Valley and the upper 70s in Mammoth. So you can expect a Moderate Heat Risk to be in place for the Owens Valley. Fortunately the nights will still be cool, with a very dry air mass in place. BTW Death looks to hit 123° next week…DMATT.
Weather Forecast for June 19
A little warmer today (still a bit breezy) as that unseasonably strong, the upper low holds. As that low weakens Thursday, we will see temps on the rise, really taking off the second half of the week, as high pressure builds into the area. So expect temps to run some 8 – 10 degrees above average by Saturday and Sunday. That translates to 103° in Bishop over the weekend…DMATT.
Weather Forecast for June 17, 2024
The Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley. A reprieve from the heat started Fathers Day, which saw a shift in our hot weather pattern. All due to a stout, dry cold front, from a system centered over Vancouver Island, dropping south down near our Forecast Area. Temperatures should drop to near seasonal norms today thru Thursday. This front also brings windy conditions to the area today. Catch this cool weather while you can, as that front weakens, in the wake of high pressure taking its place. So it’s back to the low 100s in Bishop Friday into the weekend…DMATT.
Weather Forecast for June 14 – 16, 2024
Owens Valley / Death Valley / Mammoth / Mono County. Today a trough over the PACNW drops South over the Western CONUS. As the axis of that trough slowly slides by just North of our Forecast Area Sunday, we get a sharp decrease in temperatures starting about Monday. So expect the mid 80s in Bishop and low 60s in Mammoth thru mid week. This relief from the heat will be short lived, as another ridge moves in, pushing that trough East and starting a warming trend again by end of work week…DMATT.
