Motorist arrested on multiple charges
KEY LARGO — A 39-year-old Marathon man was charged Friday, June 21, with several violations following a traffic stop on U.S. 1 near mile marker 107. Eric Kurt Crawford was charged with DUI (with multiple previous convictions), driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He was also cited for possessing open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, speeding, failure to display registration and having no insurance.

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County has confirmed that two Upper Keys residents have contracted locally-acquired dengue fever. These are the first two cases reported in the Florida Keys in roughly two years.
