MIAMI - A heat advisory Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe, which was supposed to end at 8 p.m. Thursday, has been extended to 8 p.m. Friday. Afternoon temperatures will be in the low 90s. However, combined with the humidity, the heat indices could reach up to 110 degrees on Thursday and Friday. A heat advisory is issued by the National Weather Service when a heat index of 105 degrees or higher is expected for at least two hours in Miami-Dade. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office have formerly filed child sexual battery charges against a father of seven who has already pleaded guilty to federal charges of production and distribution of child pornography. Last Thursday, nine mayors from across South Florida met for the Florida League of Mayors Regional Roundtable Discussion on Mental Health and Veterans Issues in Islamorada. Monroe County Veterans Affairs Director Cathy Crane and Village of Islamorada Mayor Buddy Pinder helped facilitate the meeting.
