FLORIDA KEYS, Fla. (CBS12) — A 19-year-old man from Boca Raton has been accused of a reckless hit-and-run and fleeing from law enforcement in the Upper Keys on Sunday. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) reported that Maxwell Daniel Burgan was driving a pickup truck near Mile Marker 84 of U.S. 1 around 12:21 a.m. and didn't stop when deputies tried to pull him over.
Getaway driver in double murder faces drug charges
A Key Largo man who served eight years in prison for his involvement in the 2015 double murder of a Tavernier couple was arrested for cocaine and marijuana possession Thursday, June 20, following a traffic stop on U.S. 1. Two Miami-Dade County men were arrested Saturday, June 22, for stealing fishing rods in Monroe County following an investigation by Sheriff’s Office detectives. Man arrested on fleeing charges
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested an 18-year-old Miami man earlier this month after reportedly fleeing from Sheriff’s Office deputies on U.S. 1. Luis Miguel Sosa was charged with fleeing and eluding and reckless driving, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt said. Sosa was reportedly speeding in a Dodge sedan near Mile Marker 80 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 15 when he fled from the Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit was canceled due to safety reasons. The vehicle was subsequently located on Siesta Key, Linhardt said.
