Crews prepare for hurricanes
A team of Monroe County emergency responders recently conducted a drill to ensure the best response if a hurricane threatens the Lower Keys. Personnel from Key West Fire and Rescue, Key West Police Department, Monroe County Fire and Rescue, Lower Keys Medical Center, and the U.S. Air Force Air National Guard joined forces to participate in the drill. If Monroe County calls for a mandatory evacuation, hospital patients must be flown to other hospitals.
