Tomah man sentenced to 17 years in prison for June 2023 shooting
SPARTA, Wis. — Monroe County Judge Mark Goodman sentenced 24-year old, Krimzen D. Perea, to 17 years in state prison on June 27 for a 2023 shooting in Tomah . After completing his prison term, Perea will be supervised for an additional 10 years by the state Department of Corrections, according to Monroe County District Attorney Kevin D. Croninger.
Tomah man sentenced in shooting incident
TOMAH, Wis. (WEAU) - A Tomah man is sentenced in a shooting incident. According to a press release from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, 24-year-old Krimzen Perea is sentenced to 17 years in the Wisconsin State prison system. After completing the 17-year term, Perea is set to supervised for an additional 10 years by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

Wisconsin man sentenced to prison for 23 child sex crimes committed over 11 years
SPARTA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 54-year-old Wisconsin man was sentenced to decades behind bars on Monday for sex crimes against children. According to a release, Mark Brooner, 54, from Tomah, was sentenced to 35 years in prison on his convictions for child sex crimes. The decades-long sentence will keep Brooner behind bars until he is 89 years old. Following his release, he will be supervised by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for 20 years and will have to register as a sex offender.

MCSD Releases Names in June 11th Fatal Crash
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department has released the names of those involved in the fatal crash, June 11th, on Highway 21 near Tunnel City. Sheriff Wes Revels says 45 year-old Justin Hackett, of Sparta, died when his 2023 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east, crossed the centerline, and collided with a 2020 Kenworth dump truck driven by Matthew Strohmeyer of Mauston. Strohmeyer was able to escape his truck just before it caught fire. Highway 21 was closed for nearly seven hours that day. The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
