    City of Monroe announces Independence Day closures and trash pickup

    MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — According to a press release from the city of Monroe, facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, for Independence Day, along with Monroe City Courts, with both reopening on Monday, July 8.

    As for trash pickup, trash normally picked up on Thursday, July 4, will be collected on Wednesday, July 3. Trash normally picked up on Friday, July 5, will be picked up on Saturday, July 6.

    The Monroe Transit System will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and resume its regular schedule on Friday, July 5. However, the transit offices will remain closed on Friday, July 5.

    Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo and Chennault Golf Course will remain open to the public. For more information, contact the city of Monroe at 318-329-2200.
