    Monroe man arrested for possession of a firearm

    All persons are innocent until proven guilty.

    MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD)– On July 4, 2024, the Monroe Police Department Heat Team assisted officers who were working security detail for the Monroe Housing Authority-Foster Heights when gunshots were heard within the complex. According to officers, Anthony Lowery allegedly had a firearm.

    When approached by officers, Lowery fled inside an apartment. According to officers, they made contact with Lowery inside the apartment, where he allegedly pushed officers and resisted arrest. Lowery was arrested for Resisting an Officer, Resisting a Police Officer with Force or Violence, Illegal Use of a Weapon, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited dwelling, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

    According to officers, Lowery has a prior arrest for Distribution of CDS II & CDS I, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He also has multiple prior arrests for Resisting an Officer and Resisting an Officer by Violence. An active protective order also prohibited his right to possess a firearm.
