Utah Officials Refuse Clemency for Man Scheduled for Execution
SALT LAKE CITY (NEWSnet/AP) — Utah officials on Friday denied clemency for a man set to be executed for the 1998 stabbing death of his girlfriend’s mother. The decision regarding the case of Taberon Dave Honie, scheduled to die by lethal injection Aug. 8, was announced in a notice from Scott Stephenson, chairman of Utah Board of Pardons and Parole.
Semi truck tips over at gas station, spills large battery
RICHFIELD, Utah — A semi truck tipped over this morning at a gas station in Richfield this morning, causing a fire hazard after spilling its cargo, a large lithium ion battery. According to a post by Richfield City Police, the battery weighed 77,000 pounds and the crash posed an “extreme fire hazard” to the immediate area.
