Hungry big fella? Well to be fair we don't know if this is a lady bear or a man bear, but either way, the bear who broke into a house and went HAM on some Oreos in Monrovia, California, is believed to be the same one who was just captured after yet another break-in. ABC 7 in Los Angeles reported on the big bear's latest exploits, which included raiding the fridge of a family who was thankfully out of town at the time for shrimp cocktail — only the tails were left behind — and an opened, not eaten, container of brownie mix. In an interview with the mother of the family below, it's implied that the bear may have even taken a nap in her young daughter's bed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9WS5B31ako Part of the reason this is believed to be the Oreo bear is because the trap that was used to capture it was full of sweets like donuts, Fruit Roll-Ups, chocolate syrup and other delectable treats. In any event, whether it's Oreo bear or not, at least
one fewer bear is roaming around neighborhoods in California. Can't blame the bear for prowling for Oreos and other similar-tasting foodstuffs. It's got to be slim pickings in the wild from time to time — or at least not a lot of variety. Certainly no processed junk food to mow down with those massive chompers. Plus, there's a brain chemistry element to this, too. A study of lab rats from more than a decade ago concluded that Oreos are about as addictive to one's brain as cocaine . So yeah, we essentially have ourselves another pseudo- Cocaine Bear on the loose. It's unsettling to think that bears can just pull up, break into a house, storm the pantry and/or fridge, and there's really nothing any residents can do about it when they're home. Gotta feel for the bears, too, who are just trying to survive and can't help but come back for more if they find easy access to such novelty foods. Stay safe out there in Monrovia, everyone.
