(WHTM) – The next chancellor of Penn State Mont Alto will also serve as a “Regional Chancellor” overseeing three Penn State regional campuses.

According to an email from Penn State Mont Alto, Dr. Marilyn J. Wells joined Penn State Mont Alto as Regional Chancellor on July 1, 2024. In addition to the Mont Alto campus, Dr. Wells will also oversee Penn State Brandywine and Penn State York.

“I am honored to lead Penn State Mont Alto as its next Chancellor,” said Dr. Wells. “I am exhilarated by the campus’ rich and unique story for over 1320 years, respected and kept alive in today’s welcoming spaces and technology-rich facilities.”

Dr. Wells served as Chancellor at Penn State Brandywine from 2020-24.

In June, Penn State Mont Alto Chancellor Dr. Francis Achampong and Penn State York Chancellor David Christiansen announced their retirements, effective June 28.

On June 11 Penn State University announced that 383 employees opted to participate in a voluntary separation program. The voluntary separation program came among a $49 million deficit at Commonwealth Campuses.

The community will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Wells during a “Meet the Chancellor Mixer” on August 27 from 4-6 p.m. at the Allied Health Building.
