A season of singing is about to begin! Cecil County Choral Society preps for new season
ELKTON — Cecil County Choral Society is kicking off its new fall season with a Potluck Dinner Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 East Main St. The potluck is open to current members and anyone who is passionate about singing or curious about the Cecil County Choral Society. Please bring a dish to share. The first rehearsal of the season is set for Sept. 17, starting at 6:30 p.m. also at Elkton UMC. There is no audition. Ongoing rehearsals will be held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Cecil County Choral Society will perform three holiday concerts in December at various locations. Gas leak reported on University of Delaware campus
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) -- A gas leak shut down multiple buildings on the second day classes were in session at the University of Delaware, the school's police department said.The leak was reported around noon Wednesday on Center Green and impacted buildings between East Memorial Avenue and Memorial Hall, police said.The gas leak was resolved just before 1 p.m. and all buildings in the area can be reoccupied, police said.Newark police said Academy Street was closed between East Delaware Avenue and Lovett Avenue due to fire department activity but reopened shortly after 1:30 p.m.There were no reported injuries.

The Gloucester County Historical Society has been adding books to its collections since it was founded in 1903 — meaning it is long overdue for a clean out. "When (local historians) pass, they don't just have 10 books, they have like 400 books," said Hoag Levins, the board member who chairs the historical society's publications committee. "It's very common that they leave their whole collections to the Gloucester County Historical Society."
