Driver Shoots at Vehicle in Road Rage Incident, Police Say
On Monday, June 17 at approximately 9:54 p.m. on Washington Street, dispatchers sent Montclair Police to the area of Washington Street and New Street on a report of a road rage incident where one vehicle fired shots at another vehicle. Upon arrival of units to the area, the vehicle that fired shots fled the scene. The drivers reported a road rage incident occurred between them and a driver of a white Tesla. The Tesla unsuccessfully attempted to overtake the individuals in their vehicle. The Tesla continued to follow the them until they pulled over in the area of New Street and Washington Street. According to the driver, the driver of the Tesla pulled up, exited his vehicle, and brandished a handgun.

New Lawsuit Alleges Montclair, Town Manager Retaliated Against Affirmative Action Officer (UPDATED)
For nearly 10 years, Bruce Morgan, Montclair’s affirmative action officer, investigated some 15 discrimination complaints brought by Montclair employees. During that time period, Morgan did not find Montclair responsible for any discriminatory conduct. In 2022, the streak ended, when Morgan conducted two investigations and reported finding Montclair at fault. It’s also when the Township of Montclair and “high-ranking supervisory employees” allegedly began a “campaign of retaliation” against Morgan, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Local Coldwell Banker Realty Included in Settlement for Housing Discrimination
The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, DCR, has settled four cases involving Coldwell Banker Realty, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced earlier this month. According to the DCR, the brokerage violated the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination by discriminating against individuals who intended to use Housing Choice Vouchers. Of the four Coldwell Banker Realty involved, one of the offices is the Upper Montclair location at 242 Bellevue Ave. The other three locations were located in Hoboken, Jersey City and Hackensack.
