Washington Aqueduct gets OK to add antialgae chemical to protect drinking water supply
Three weeks after the lifting of a boil water advisory for all of D.C. and most of Arlington, Virginia, the Washington Aqueduct can now add a new chemical to its water treatment process to prevent future problems when algae in the Potomac River threatens the main water source for much of the region.
Football scandal triggers wave of school hires, abrupt removal of security chief
This past December, Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria posted an ad for a new head football coach. On Feb. 12, Darryl Overton, a championship football coach from across county lines at Freedom High School in Woodbridge, took the position, bringing with him an estimated 30-plus football players transferring to Hayfield from Freedom and at least three other area schools.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (7News) — A construction worker was struck and killed by a vehicle at a construction site Wednesday, according to the Alexandria Police Department (APD). On July 24 around 7:32 a.m., APD was called to a construction site in the 5700 block of Duke Street for a report of an injured person.
