NASCAR stars from Michigan highlight field for annual Money in the Bank race at Berlin Raceway
MARNE -- One of the biggest races in the state of Michigan is set to write another exciting chapter. From the best NASCAR drivers from the Mitten to short-track drivers from around the country, 31 cars are expected to take the green flag on Wednesday night in the annual Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin Raceway.

Letter: Editorial showed great disregard for Bible
(Re: “Using Bible to defend prejudice is a moral, historical, cultural cop-out,” June 6, 2024) If Tim Lyke felt my letter of last week must not go unanswered so must his editorial not go unanswered. His characterisation of the Bible shows great disregard for it. I have a list of over 200 Biblical scholars with PhDs who revere the Bible as inerrant and God’s self revelation. Furthermore one of these scholars has written a book “The Bible and homosexual Practice: Texts and Hermeneutics” by Robert A.J, Gagnon, 2001, Abingdon Press, Nashville.

6/11/24 Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament
A two-man team from Brandon and Ripon took second place in Mercury Marine’s National Walleye Fishing tournament at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac over the weekend. Jared Hoinaki from Brandon and Andy Leonard of Ripon caught 28 pounds and 13 ounces of Walleye during the two day tourney. But Ken Groeschel of Malone and Doug Pietrowksi of Fond du Lac won the tournament hauling in 29 pounds and nine ounces of fish. As a result they won a Lund fishing boat, Mercury 150 horsepower outboard motor, a 9.9 horsepower trolling motor, and $5,000 cash. Third place honors went to Mike and Dakota Maas of Fond du Lac who’s Walleye weighed in at 27 pounds and 15 ounces. Tournament organizers say 270 teams participated in the tournament.

Race Issues Raised Over Baraboo Graduation Altercation
A Baraboo father who pushed a school superintendent during his daughter’s graduation claims it was due to personal issues with the man. Matthew Eddy has been charged with disorderly conduct after jumping on stage during the Baraboo graduation ceremony on May 31st and preventing Superintendent Rainey Briggs from shaking his daughter’s hand.
Wisconsin Tornado: EF-1 Twister Damages Barn in Neshkoro
Neshkoro, WI – An EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 100 mph struck Neshkoro on Tuesday, May 21st, according to the US National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan Wisconsin. The tornado, confirmed this week, traveled 4.75 miles and caused damage to a barn. According to the NWS, the tornado, which formed near Springdale, followed a convergent path running north-northeast.
Big Top Parade returns to downtown Baraboo with weekend-long circus celebration
BARABOO, Wis. (WMTV) - The Big Top Parade returned to the streets of downtown Baraboo Saturday morning for a weekend-long circus celebration. The parade featured historic wagons, marching bands, animals and community floats. Officials say each entry was modeled after this year’s theme, “Blast Off,” which is also the theme of Circus World’s 2024 big top show.
Berlin Raceway forced to cancel open-wheel night due to impending rain
MARNE -- For the second consecutive week, the weather forecast has forced Berlin Raceway to throw out the red flag the day before a night of racing. After race officials consulted for days, they determined it was in the best interest of fans and the traveling series to cancel June 8′s schedule of events.
