A vigil was held outside Waupun Correctional Institution last night. Four inmates have died at the facility in the past year. An investigation led to the charging of the prison warden and eight staff members last Wednesday. There have been calls for closing the prison and Green Bay Correctional Institution. Waupun Correctional is one of the oldest prisons in the country. Posting online a couple days ago Waupun Mayor Rohn Bishop said the problems at Waupun Correctional Institution weren’t caused by the Warden or the good people who work there. He says the problems were caused by governors who didn’t care, legislators who didn’t care, and a media who cared too much about the prisoners instead of the safety of the staff. Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games to feature state's top players
The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association will hold its 2024 All-Star Games later this month at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. MSHSL State Softball Champions Determined
The Randolph Rockets moved from Class 1A to Class 2A this year due to the enrollment criteria set up by the Minnesota State High School League ( MSHSL). It didn't seem to faze them, capping off their season with a 3-0 win over Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Friday, June 7, 2024 to capture their second title in 4 years. Randolph has been to the State Fastpitch Tournament six years in a row.
June Dairy Days will honor Waldvogel
For years, Rose Waldvogel organized a 4-H Pie Social during Markesan’s annual June Dairy Days. “The pie social was a real point of pride for her, and from what I understand, she was sad to see it go when the group decided that attendance was too low to continue,” Markesan Chamber of Commerce President Amy Kennedy said, noting Waldvogel was a leader of 4-H for more than 34 years.
LCWM falls to Randolph in the Class AA state championship game
NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Knights softball team took on the Randolph Rockets in the Class AA state championship game. Randolph took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning and would score another run in the top of the 7th to make it a 3-0 game.

Woman dead after crash leaves car hanging from tree Friday, officials say
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A 21-year-old woman died Friday afternoon in a deadly crash that left her car hanging from a tree, Juneau County officials say. Police received a report at 4:58 p.m. Friday that there was a one vehicle accident on County Highway near Linda Town Hall. Kaitlyn Cavanaugh, a woman from Adams, was pronounced dead on the scene.

One year later, still no sign of missing Reedsburg teen James Yoblonski
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Wednesday marks one year since 13-year-old James Yoblonski went missing. The boy was last seen at his Sauk County home the day before investigators believe he drove the family’s vehicle to Baraboo and left it abandoned by the Bluffs. One year later, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office and Yoblonski’s father, Bill, said they have no substantial leads.
