Overnight closure on Highway 1 at Rocky Creek begins July 22
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Caltrans announced that the next phase of emergency repairs on Highway 1 south of the Rocky Creek Bridge will start on Monday, July 22. The story comes from John McDougall, who was described in a series of 1930 articles in the Salinas Index-Journal as “one of Salinas’ oldest residents,” residing here for “more than half a century,” giving the legend some weight.
