KING CITY — Four oral history interviews have been added to the collection of the San Antonio Valley Historical Association (SAVHA), preserving memories of South Monterey County. Featured on YouTube are life stories of John and Darlene Maggini of Bitterwater, Butch Heinsen of Lockwood and Calverne Sayler of Lockwood. They are available to the public by searching YouTube under the San Antonio Valley Historical Association name. In each of the interviews, the speakers talk about their lives and how their families ended up in South Monterey County. The Lockwood interviews were conducted by Patricia Woodfill and filmed by Maria Weinerth. The Bitterwater interviews were conducted by Karen Jernigan and filmed by John Jernigan. SAVHA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the stories and photos of the area. Within the last few years, the group has added 26 interviews to its YouTube channel. This is the continuation of 50 oral history projects that were recorded 50 years ago by members of the group. The older interviews are available on CDs at the Monterey County Free Libraries’ King City branch.
