The Pittsfield police force has launched a pilot program that allows officers and a mental health clinician to respond more quickly to calls. The Joint Response Team, made up of two plain clothes officers and a mental health professional, travel together to a scene. Outside of the pilot program, clinicians travel in a separate car.

WARRENSBURG | A woman and her young daughter dodged falling trees July 16 as they drove through a raging storm on state Route 28 south of The Glen in Warrensburg. Returning home to Indian Lake from a trip to Glens Falls, Meredith Arena and her 12-year-old daughter Harper were headed north on Route 28 when gentle rain and a breeze turned into furious wind and a torrential downpour a half-mile or so south of The Glen.
