Worried family members are urgently seeking a young 15-year-old girl from Monterey Park who vanished after heading off on her bicycle to visit family last Tuesday.

Allison Jillian Chao was captured by CCTV in the evening on July 16, pedalling a blue GT mountain bike and setting out from her dad's place on North Ynez Avenue to her aunt's home in San Gabriela.

Despite the fact that the journey is fewer than four miles, Allison did not make it home, sparking a frantic search.

Annie Chao, Allison's mother, told KTLA reporter Rachel Menitoff: "The more time that goes on, the scarier it gets.

"I'm afraid the public will lose interest, and it will be harder to find her. There's less evidence."

Annie Chao claims her daughter is a dedicated pupil, an upcoming junior at Mark Keppel High School, boasting top grades, who showed no inclination to run off.

With no word to her mates or any trace online, concern is intensifying.

Loved ones are frantically searching the area and distributing "Missing" flyers, desperate for some news about Allison's location.

Ms Chao added: "I haven't slept in days, and it's just every parent's worst nightmare,".

Described as Asian with a slight build, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing around 96 pounds, Allison has black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen adorned in a purple T-shirt, black shorts, dark shoes, toting a black backpack.
