Fairmont State University has plans for nearly $7 million in congressional directed spending
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University will receive $6.89 million in federally directed spending to go towards three improvement projects. The offices of U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced that the university will receive Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) funds to support upgrades to the nursing program facilities, library renovations, and campus security system improvements.

Barbour County man charged in domestic assault investigation
MOATSVILLE, W.Va. — A suspect from Moatsville is behind bars after police say he assaulted a woman and fled from police over the weekend. Deputies from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene in the Arden area Saturday and witnessed Christopher Wagner, 33, slamming a woman to the ground by the throat. When deputies ordered Wagner to stop, he fled on foot from the area.
Federal escapee arrested in Clarksburg, officers find unregistered machine gun
CLARKSBURG, W.Va (WDTV) - A Puerto Rican man was arrested in Clarksburg after failing to report to a halfway house Friday. The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, along with the Clarksburg Police Department and the West Virginia Department of Corrections, arrested Edgardo Quinones-Hiraldo, 35, at a home on Hart Street.

WVU’s Todd Duncan win SE Amateur, punches ticket to U.S. Amateur Golf Championship
WVU’s golf program will be well represented at this year’s U.S. Amateur Golf Championship. West Virginia native Todd Duncan became the third Mountaineer golfer to qualify for the sport’s top amateur event. Duncan shot -5 (65) in the first and only round of the Southeastern Amateur qualifying tournament at Country Club of Columbus golf course in Columbus, Georgia.
