Scattered showers continue through Thursday night; sunny for the weekend
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - A few stationary systems, one to our north and one to our south, are providing the eastern half of the United States with rain and non-severe thunderstorms. Here in NCWV it’s no different. The precipitation is well needed, as all of our area is under some level of drought (in fact, over 99% of WV is in drought). Isolated to scattered rain will continue through Thursday night before the systems sink to our south. Stretches of mostly cloudy skies and even a few peeks of sun are likely during this time, but any showers that form could be heavy. Since we are still so dry, flooding shouldn’t be an issue, but if a very localized area gets hit with a few heavy showers in a short period of time, minor flash flooding can result.

First Alert Forecast | Stubborn Wave Of Humidity Continues
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Overnight showers have slowly peeled away to the east, but the stuffy clouds and humidity remain slathered overhead, enough to spark a new shower at virtually any hour of the day. Nevertheless, our best rain-free times will be around until the heat of the day forces a few more showers and storms to sprout in the afternoon. Temperatures will still make a run to and through the 80s, and our warmest air may well end up in our Ohio counties where the best breaks for sunshine should occur. Whether partly cloudy or mostly cloudy though, any sunshine will make for quite a steamy feel at the county fairgrounds. Speaking of which, toward the end of the day (when the fair closes) we can see a new front drop into our US-50 zones (think the Vinton County fair) bringing scattered showers and storms from a new source. A downpour can be in the mix, but changes will slowly begin.
