    New Restaurant Opens in Cortez

    Learn about Cortez Public Library's next educational presentation, Mancos School of the West's upcoming art workshop, Cortez's newest restaurant, and who's hiring in Montezuma County. The Cortez Public Library is hosting Moab Rock Art with Rory Tyler on Thursday, March 7th. Tyler is an expert in rock art interpretation from Moab, Utah. He's created several presentations about rock art styles and astronomical sites in Moab, led custom rock art tours and hikes, and written three manuscripts detailing his work. This free event will include a speech and a presentation by Tyler beginning at 6:00 PM. Mancos School of the West Winter Workshop Series is underway with the next class happening Saturday, March 9th, at Mancos Public Library. Kathy Pike will be instructing participants on Gelli Plate printing using the Gelli Plate along with stencils, stains, and paper to explore colors, patterns, and a variety of effects. Visit School of the West's website for more details on the class and how to register. A new Vietnamese restaurant has opened up in Cortez. Min-Tea had their grand opening and ribbon cutting with the city of Cortez mayor on Tuesday, February 20th. The menu includes specialty drinks like milk tea and boba, as well as Vietnamese inspired snacks and plates. Several organizations in Montezuma County are seeking employees. The Dolores Public Library is looking to hire two part-time positions, a youth services and adult services library assistant. The city of Cortez is hiring several full and part-time positions, including a Public Works waterline replacement foreman and operator. Volunteer opportunities are also available through the city of Cortez. For younger job seekers, the School Community Youth Collaborative is accepting applications for a youth coalition leader. That position is part-time around 10 hours per month. Applicants must be between 16 and 24 years of age. Learn more about these and other stories online at montezumalocal.news.
