Samuel Tompkins is a relief pitcher for the Huntingdon College Hawks. During the Hawks recent win over Piedmont University, Tompkins pitched and closed the game to get a save. He celebrated the win with teammates from Highland Home, center fielder Noah Phillips and fielder Daniel Phillips.

The twins started their collegiate baseball careers at Coastal Community College in Brewton before transferring to Huntingdon. All three Crenshaw County players have made significant contributions to the Huntingdon program.

Tompkins is the son of Dr. Charles Tompkins and his wife Susan. The Phillips twins are the sons of Melissa and John Phillips and grandsons of Lanora and Bubba Taylor.
