Deputies with MCSO arrested 28-year-old Lemarco Quentez Burkett and 18-year-old Wilvontae Jerrell Tallie after a traffic stop on I-1-10 near the Alabama Welcome Center on Wednesday, July 17.

According to the MCSO release, Burkett was the driver and Tallie was the passenger in a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro that was listed as stolen from Texas. When deputies approached the vehicle, they said Burkett appeared to be attempting to flee while Tallie appeared to be reaching toward the floorboard area.

Additional deputies came to secure the scene, and reports said they found a short-barrelled AR-15 loaded with the safety off on the floorboard of the passenger side. Alabama law says, “It is a felony to possess, obtain, receive, sell, or use a short-barreled rifle or a short-barreled shotgun in violation of federal law.”
