Lowndes County Sheriff’s investigators arrested two Fort Deposit teens Saturday in connection with a Montgomery murder.

Sheriff Chris West announced the arrests July 20 after investigators captured two 16-year-old black males wanted for the July 18 murder of a Hispanic male in West Montgomery. According to Investigator Randell Johnson, a team of investigators completed the arrest Saturday afternoon.

The two were transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where they are held without bond under capital murder charges.  Johnson said they will most likely be tried as adults.

“The young men were involved in a murder at a new gas station, the new QT on the West South Boulevard in Montgomery,” Johnson said. “They allegedly killed a 21-year-old Hispanic male who was sitting in a car.”

Central Alabama Crimestoppers issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) Friday after the suspects allegedly shot and killed Hector Bamaca Yoc in the 1000 block of West South Boulevard. Johnson recognized the juveniles and contacted Crimestoppers representatives who put him in touch with the Montgomery Police Department investigator on the case.

According to Johnson, Fort Deposit Police Chief Terry Steiner received a call from a family member who had information on the location of one of the suspects.

“I got our team together, and we went and picked up one of the boys,” Johnson said. “The mom of the other juvenile heard we were looking for him so she turned him in to the police department.”

Around 12:45 a.m. Thursday, MPD and Fire Medics responded to a call in reference to the shooting. Upon arrival, responders located the victim, already deceased after sustaining fatal gunshot injuries.

Crimestoppers report the two suspects fled on foot and MPD investigators released photographs of the suspect officer say attempted to rob the victim, the shot and killed him.

Persons with information about the case are asked to contact the Montgomery Police Department investigative unit at (334) 625-2832 or (334) 625-2831.
