We are less than a month away from the 2024 high school football season, and there are a few players that The Montgomery Advertiser is anticipating seeing on the field this fall.

The following seven players come from all over the River Region and play on both sides of the ball. They had excitingseasons in 2023, with some leading the state in a few categories, and enter the 2024 season as some of the best in the area in their respective positions.

Here’s a list of a few highly touted prospects we are excited to watch in the 2024 football season:

    Trey Berry, Carver

    Senior, Running Back

Heading into his final season with the Lanier Poets, Berry finished with 1,361 all-purpose and eight touchdowns as a junior. On defense, he had 15 tackles and 14 tackles for loss, making him a threat on both sides of the ball. Now, at Carver for his final year, Berry will share the backfield with Alabama commit Anthony Rogers under new head coach Bobby Carr.

    JaMicheal Jones, Pike Road

    Junior, Running Back

The four-star prospect racked up 1,080 yards and 18 total touchdowns in his first season with the Patriots. With offers from some of the nation’s top schools, Jones looks to continue his dominance on the gridiron.

In his first season with the Patriots, Myers finished with 2,140 yards through the air to go along with 15 touchdowns. His 177 total pass completions helped lead Pike Road to a semifinal playoff berth. With a season under his belt, and lots of returning weapons on offense, the Patriots will be a fun team to watch in the Class 6A.
