Police have made an arrest in an early morning July 16 homicide that set off a violent 24 hours in a Montgomery neighborhood.

My’Quan Morris, 18, of Montgomery, is charged with capital murder, said Maj. Saba Coleman, spokeswoman for the Montgomery Police Department. Morris was identified as the suspect in the July 16 shooting death of Kavone Mosquera, 20, of Montgomery, Coleman said. Morris was taken into custody by MPD and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under no bond.

Capital murder charges are being filed because Morris allegedly shot Mosquera during the commission of a robbery, Coleman said

Police said the shooting happened about 12:35 a.m. in the 3200 block of Covered Bridge Drive. About 3 p.m., two men were shot inn the same block and suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said. Authorities say this was a separate incident from the earlier shooting.

Then at about 8 p.m. that same day, police and fire medics went to the 2500 block of Bridle Path Lane, a few blocks away from the block of Covered Bridge Parkway where the shootings happened. They found LaMarcus McCall, 25, of Montgomery, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not commented on whether McCall’s shooting was related to the earlier shootings.

The circumstances of the cases remain under investigation, and no other information was immediately released. Police ask people with knowledge of the case to call CrimeStoppers at 334-215-STOP, the Secret Witness Line at 334-625-4000, or MPD at 334-625-2831.
