The Montgomery Ballet has a new home on Coliseum Boulevard, but is asking for the public's help to prepare the facility for dancers.

Danny Mitsios, artistic and executive director for Montgomery Ballet, has launched a GoFundMe account to help cover costs of renovations at 405 Coliseum Blvd.

"Thanks to the generosity and support of Lee Willcoxon, the Montgomery Ballet has secured a new space in the Eastbrook Shopping Plaza," Mitsios said in a release. "While the new location offers more space than the previous one, it requires significant renovations to meet the needs of the ballet company and its community."

A goal of $15,000 in donations has been set. Mitsios said the funds will be used for essential improvements:

    • Installation of a sprung floor
    • New mirrors and ballet bars
    • Purchase and installation of marley flooring
    • Setting up a costume shop

"These essential upgrades come with substantial costs, and we are reaching out to our community for support," Mitsios said.

In April, Montgomery Ballet had to vacate its previous location at 1044 East Fairview Ave. due to safety concerns with the building.

Misios said their new home's large space will be divided into two studios, which will allow them to offer more classes to the community.

"The funds will also help create the Montgomery Ballet Studio Theater, which will host the Mardi Gras and Spring productions, providing a unique black box theater experience in Montgomery," Mitsios said.

"Contributions of any size are greatly appreciated and will make a significant impact on the ballet’s ability to serve the community and continue its mission of promoting the arts," Mitsios said.
