    30 YEARS AGO: JULY 7, 1994

    • The city’s annual Riverfest was gearing up for a great two-day event.

    • A feature story told how 4-year-old Keatan White had a second home the Ronald McDonald House.

    • A 12-year-old girl was abducted on a dirt road in Silver Creek Township. Two days later, Wayne James Pauly of Monticello was arrested in connection with the abduction.

    • ADS: Total convenience stores were having customer appreciation drawings at two Monticello locations.

    •At the Monticello Theater: “Baby’s Day Out,” “Little Big League” and “Wyatt Earp.”

    15 YEARS AGO: JULY 2, 2009

    • The Monticello Nuclear Power Plant met all its safety goals during 2008, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission stated at a community meeting.

    • For the first time in Riverfest duck race history, a grand prize was awarded instead of cash. The prize was a 2009 Honda four-wheeler ATV.

    • LeAnn and Marissa Langlie were the winners in the Walk & Roll medallion hunt.

    • New River Medical was awarded with the American Heart Association’s Gold Award for maintaining clinical performance heart failure measures,

    • ADS: The Strawberry Basket was expecting a bumper crop of its juicy red berries.

    • On the Monster Screen at the Monticello Theater: “Ice Age”
