New teachers welcomed aboard

The Monticello School District held a two-day New Teacher Workshop earlier this month, from Aug. 19-20, for onboarding, staff development and mentorship.

There were 35 new teachers who attended, all pictured here, along with current school administrators.

On the first day of the workshop, the new teachers joined Superintendent Eric Olson, Mayor Lloyd Hilgart and City Administrator Rachel Leonard on a 19-stop bus tour around Monticello, provided by Hoglund Transportation.

The new teachers were able to meet their mentors on the second day, when they spent a half day getting to know their building, grade and program.

Also, on the second day, all of the new teachers received gift bags from the Monticello Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
