Wright County Sheriff arrests:
• John Allen Brummer, 62, of Rosemount was arrested in Monticello Sept. 16 on charges of carrying a firearm in a public place without a permit and possession of a firearm while impaired.
• Matthew York Chandler, 43, of Monticello was arrested in Monticello Sept. 17 on a charge of fifth-degree controlled substance.
• Christopher Scott Ellingson, 40, of Big Lake was arrested in Buffalo Sept. 17 on a Wright County warrant for third-degree DWI.
• Gustavo Braulio Payan Ponce, 26, of Monticello was arrested in Monticello Sept. 17 on a charge of violation of a no contact order.
• Thomas Anthony Bruce, 28, of Buffalo was arrested in Monticello Sept. 18 on a charge of first-degree controlled substance and Wright County warrants for fifth-degree controlled substance and theft.
• Devon Matthew Gasswint, 24, of Elk River was arrested in Monticello Sept. 18 on charges of possessing a firearm with no serial number, convicted felon in possession of a firearm/ammo and being in possession of a firearm/ammo while under the influence of a controlled substance.
• Riley Jo Weckwerth, 25, of St. Cloud was arrested in Monticello Sept. 18 on a Wright County warrant for fifth-degree controlled substance.
• Keeley Rae Detwiler, 27, of Albertville was arrested in Monticello Sept. 20 on a charge of possession of shoplifting gear.
• Brad Lee Steng, 54, of St. Joseph was arrested in Monticello Sept. 22 on a charge of driving after license cancellation.
Wright County Sheriff by the numbers:
From Sept. 16-23, there were 20 property-damage accidents, six personal-injury accidents, two hit-and-run accidents, seven car-vs-deer accidents, 14 DWI arrests, five school bus stop arm violations and 147 miscellaneous traffic violations reported.
Wright County Attorney’s Office court sentences:
• Christopher Lawrence Demars, 58, of Big Lake, was sentenced on Sept. 17 to 90 days jail, 88 days stayed on one year probation, and fined $200 for misdemeanor domestic assault, intentionally inflicting/attempting to inflict bodily harm on another.
• Valerie Jean Kinikin-Goeb, 61, of Monticello, was sentenced on Sept. 17 to stay of imposition, five years probation, two days jail and 120 hours of community work service for financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult, depriving property or resources for the benefit of someone else.
• Benjamin Anthony Montroy, 29, of Big Lake, was sentenced on Sept. 17 to stay of imposition, three years probation, 23 days jail, and fined $100 for second-degree attempted burglary of a dwelling.
• Christopher Scott Ellingson, 40, of Monticello, was sentenced on Sept. 18 to remain/reinstate on probation on all prior terms and conditions for probation violation for DWI, operating a motor vehicle while body contains any amount of schedule I/II drugs (not marijuana).
• Chelsea Renee Scherr, 31, of Monticello, was sentenced on Sept. 18 to commit for 16 months, stay of execution, three years probation, two days jail, and fined $50 for predatory offense, knowingly committing act or failing to fulfill registration requirement.
Monticello Fire Department calls for service:
• Residential fire alarm on Stoneridge Lane at 8:32 a.m. Sept. 16
• Commercial fire alarm on Broadway Street West at 1:27 p.m. Sept. 17
• Medical call on Marvin Elwood Road at 3:13 p.m. Sept. 17
• Gas leak on Woodside Drive at 1:52 p.m. Sept. 20
DNR Conservation Officer’s Report:
• CO Trent Seamans (Big Lake) and COC Brianna Shaw focused patrols on angling and waterfowl-hunting activity. Additional time was spent following up on miscellaneous wildlife-related complaints. Enforcement action was taken for licensing issues, transporting loaded firearms in motorized vehicles, and taking waterfowl in open water.
• CO Clint Fitzgerald (Buffalo) patrolled for hunting and angling activity in his station. Time was also spent conducting commercial taxidermy inspections. Enforcement action was taken for trespass on federal lands.
• CO Adam Stennett (Annandale) attended annual training and firearms safety classes. Equipment was worked on and prepped for season openers/changes. Miscellaneous wildlife-related calls and complaints were fielded. The duck opener was worked, with limited success reported by hunters.
