    Arrests, sentencings, fire calls for Oct. 3

    Wright County Sheriff arrests:

    • Joel Lavern Christenson, 38, of Monticello was arrested in Monticello Sept. 23 on a charge of driving after license cancellation.

    • Elizabeth Mae Verdon, 43, of Buffalo was arrested in Monticello Sept. 23 on charges of theft and fifth-degree controlled substance.

    • Shawn Adam Lux, 39, of Monticello was arrested in Washington County Sept. 24 on Wright County warrants for violation of a harassment/restraining order, second-degree burglary and theft.

    • Adam Tyrone Vincent Johnson, 55, of Monticello was arrested in Otsego Sept. 28 on a charge of criminal vehicular operation.

    • Zachary Joseph Salem, 29, of Monticello was arrested in Monticello Sept. 28 on a Crow Wing County warrant for theft.

    • Eugene Louis Opatz, 77, of Buffalo was arrested in Monticello Sept. 29 on a charge of fourth-degree DWI.

    Wright County Sheriff by the numbers:

    From Sept. 23-30, there were 31 property-damage accidents, eight personal-injury accidents, one hit-and-run accident, three car-vs-deer accidents, four DWI arrests, two arrests for underage consumption, nine school bus stop arm violations and 146 miscellaneous traffic violations reported.

    Wright County Attorney’s Office court sentences:

    • Perry John Bondhus, 57, of Monticello, was sentenced on Sept. 23 to stay of imposition, four years probation and 115 days jail for threats of violence, reckless disregard risk.

    • Tracey Dawn Christianson, 43, of Big Lake, was sentenced on Sept. 24 in two separate cases. In the first case, she was sentenced to stay of imposition, five years probation, 30 days jail and fined $15 for fifth-degree drug possession of a Schedule 1, 2, 3, 4 drug. In the second case, she was sentenced to 90 days jail, 60 days stayed on one year probation, must serve 30 days for DWI, operating a motor vehicle under influence of a controlled substance.

    • Dallas Francis Smith, 33, of Big Lake, was sentenced on Sept. 24 to 364 days jail, 354 days stayed on one year probation, must serve 10 days, and fined $100 for intent to escape tax on motor vehicle registration.

    Monticello Fire Department calls for service:

    • Motor vehicle accident at 127th St. and Aladdin Avenue NW at 10:25 p.m. Sept. 23

    • Fire: Other on Oak Ridge Drive North at 11:34 a.m. Sept. 25

    • Fire: Other on Devitt Avenue at 5:17 a.m. Sept. 26

    • Elevator rescue on 4th Street West at 11 a.m. Sept. 26

    • Residential fire alarm on Starling Drive at 11:50 a.m. Sept. 26

    • Motor vehicle accident on Interstate 94 near mile marker 196 at 6:10 a.m. Sept. 27

    • Brush Fire on Highway 25 at 4:37 a.m. Sept. 27

    • Commercial fire alarm on 4th Street West at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 27

    • Motor vehicle accident at Elm Street and 3rd Street West at 1:28 p.m. Sept. 28

    • Vehicle fire at Haug Avenue NE and 90th Street NE at 6:50 a.m. Sept. 29

    • Residential fire alarm on County Road 37 at 5:49 p.m. Sept. 29

    DNR Conservation Officer’s Report:

    • CO Trent Seamans (Big Lake) and COC Brianna Shaw focused patrols on angling and waterfowl hunting activity. Additional time was conducting big game investigations and enforcing water safety laws. Enforcement action for the week included fishing without a license, fishing with extra lines, operating a watercraft without registration, and hunting waterfowl without a small game license.

    • CO Clint Fitzgerald (Buffalo) spent the week checking waterfowl and deer hunters. Enforcement activity included hunting without a license, taking waterfowl and coots in open water, dove hunting with an unplugged shotgun, and expired ATV registration.

    • CO Adam Stennett (Annandale) saw mixed success with waterfowl hunters. Multiple complaints of illegal aquatic plant management by lakeshore owners were investigated. A trespassing complaint was also fielded. Enforcement for the week included hunting without a license in possession.
