PHOTOS: Father-Daughter Dance at Ellison Park
MONTICELLO — Local dads and their girls enjoyed a beautiful evening on Wednesday, Aug. 6 in the Lions Den at Ellison Park during the city’s annual Father-Daughter Dance. The event returned to Ellison Park this summer after a winter version back in February was canceled due to low attendance. Fathers, grandfathers, older brothers, uncles and any other father figures, along with their girls of all ages, were invited to this fun and meaningful night honoring their special relationship. The evening included a DJ, games, photos and more. Games included a paper-airplane making contest, cornhole and a hula-hoop contest. There were also temporary tattoos and coloring activities.
PACT Act Claims Clinic set Saturday
ST. CLOUD — Central Minnesota veterans and surviving family members of deceased veterans who served in the Vietnam War, Gulf War or post-9/11 conflicts are invited to attend a PACT Act claims clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. The clinic is designed to answer questions about increased health care or compensation benefits for veterans that were exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances while serving in the Armed Forces. The clinic will be held in Building 8 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, located at 4801 Veterans Drive in St. Cloud. Walk-ins will be accepted or make an appointment for a specific time by calling 320-255-6340. Veterans are asked to bring their DD-214 or other discharge papers and any recent correspondence with the VA dealing with prior or ongoing claim.
Ellison Park will get AED thanks to $8K donation
MONTICELLO — Ellison Park is already one of the most picturesque spots in the city — and now it will be a little safer, too, as a donation from CentraCare-Monticello will go toward purchasing an AED for the park.
