Bear Lake Memorial Hospital doctor has performed over 500 robotic surgeries

MONTPELIER — Bear Lake Memorial Hospital is excited to recognize Dr. Brian Retherford for his amazing achievement.

Dr. Retherford has performed over 500 robotic surgeries and counting.

Brian S. Retherford, MD, is a Board Certified OB/GYN physician. He offers a full spectrum of office gynecology and surgical gynecology services, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures.

Dr. Retherford attended Michigan State University and completed a four-year OB/GYN residency program at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base. He then worked as an active-duty OB/GYN physician.

Upon honorable discharge from the Air Force, he set up a private practice in California, where he practiced for the next seven years. He then joined Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming, where he remained for the past 13 years before moving to Bear Lake County.

His family includes his wife, Lindsey, and their five children along with their beloved dog. They love the outdoors and are excited to explore all of the natural beauty that the Bear Lake Valley has to offer.

When asked about his surgeries, Dr. Retherford said, “It has given me a great deal of joy and satisfaction to have been able to utilize the safest and best technology in the care of my patients for the past 13 years since I was introduced to the da Vinci robotic surgical system. Although the system is not inexpensive, there is no doubt in my mind that it is the best option for the procedures I perform, and its availability is a testament to the care that Bear Lake Memorial Hospital has for its patients.”
