Foley to build indoor aquatics center
FOLEY, Ala. (WPMI) — A new indoor aquatics center is planned to replace Foley’s 71-year-old swimming pool in less than three years. Foley officials held a public meeting Tuesday, July 23, to gather input from residents about the features they would like to be included in the facility replacing the current pool. More than 100 people took part in the meeting.

Alabama Lawmaker Facing Federal Prison Time After Allegedly Breaking Plea Agreement
John Rogers, one the longest serving lawmakers in the Alabama House, is facing federal prison. According to court records, Rogers has breached his long-standing plea agreement for misusing Jefferson County tax dollars during his last term. Rogers’ term ended after he pleaded guilty to participating in a federal kickback scheme. The case involved the Jefferson County Community Action Fund, which used increased taxes in 2017 to support local students by funding new school construction. Tropical development possible this week
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — The Tropical Atlantic Basin has been quiet recently after three named storms formed early in the season. A potential tropical weather maker over the Atlantic Ocean could further develop. The tropical disturbance will move west-northwest and is forecast to be in the vicinity of the Greater Antilles by late this week. As of Sunday afternoon, the National Hurricane Center had a medium formation chance posted for the potential weather maker with a 40 percent chance of formation through 7 days.
Auburn gets commitment from pair of 2026 blue chips on defense
Auburn landed commitments Saturday from two four-star prospects from Alabama in the Class of 2026. Linebacker Shadarius Toodle, from Cottage Hill Christian Academy, and edge Hezekiah Harris, from Jemison High School in Huntsville, announced their commitment while attending Big Cat Weekend, Auburn's annual recruiting event. Toodle is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 5 linebacker and the No. 67 player in the class overall. Harris is the No. 4 edge rusher and No. 30 overall. "It's just the atmosphere," Toodle told Auburn Undercover about his decision to commit to Auburn. "I loved it every time I came up here. I've been up here like four times. My family loves it.
