The Annual reading of the Declaration of Independence was held at American Legion Post #102 Hall in Chariton on Independence Day Thursday, July 4. The event was moved indoors due to the weather. The Lucas County Veterans Memorial Park Committee put on the event, which also included a Quilts of Valor presentation. A large crowd was on hand for both the reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Quilts of Valor ceremony.
